Love or Dehumanization?

Let’s face it, we all want to be in love with someone, no matter how tough we may act.  Even though love has its ups and downs, it still gives you that warm feeling of comfort inside your beating heart. However, I see so many people lowering their standards just to be with someone who can give them that feeling of warmness.  I have heard of adjustments in order to make the relationship better for both individuals, but not to the point where the other person has to sacrifice morals. What makes this so destructive, is that we as humans, know when we have been conned out or our morals. It pains me to say that this issue will continue to happen until someone in the relationship realizes their self-worth or when someone understands that they are wrong for making someone endure a hardship for their own pleasure. I can’t begin to tell you how many times I have personally experienced sacrificing my own self-worth in order to make someone happy. It took years for me to change my perspective on relationships and no, it was not easy. For those of you who may know someone in this situation or if you are in this situation; I urge you to analyze your self-worth and realize who you are as an individual. We need people in this world who can hone their self-actualization and encourage others to do the same. Michael Jackson said it best in his song “Mirror”, If you want to make the world a better place, take a look at yourself, and then make a change.
